Common questions

Why can’t I connect my bank?

There is no bank connection, and that is deliberate. Connecting to a bank is exactly what would require an account, a server and your credentials — the three things this app is built to avoid.

Your account balances are yours to update. In exchange, nothing about your finances ever leaves your phone. If you want to save typing, you can import a bank statement CSV instead.

How do I back up, or move to a new iPhone?

Go to Settings → Your data → Back up. That writes a single backup file containing everything the app holds, and you choose where to save it — Files, iCloud Drive, or anywhere else iOS offers.

On the new phone, install MyMoooolah and use Settings → Your data → Restore from backup. The app shows you what is in the file and asks you to confirm before it changes anything. Restoring replaces what is currently in the app, so back up first if there is anything you want to keep.

Can I get my figures into a spreadsheet?

Yes. Settings → Your data → Export to CSV produces a single CSV file with a section for each kind of record, which opens in Numbers, Excel or Google Sheets.

Existing columns are never moved or renamed between versions, so a spreadsheet you have built on an earlier export will keep working.

How does importing a bank statement work?

Go to Accounts → Transactions and choose to import. You pick a CSV file exported from your bank, tell the app which columns hold the date, description and amount, and it shows you a preview of every row before anything is added — including rows it thinks are duplicates and rows it could not read, each with the reason.

Nothing is added until you confirm, and you can undo the whole import afterwards. The file is read entirely on your phone.

How do I delete everything?

Settings → Erase all data removes every record in the app. Deleting the app from your iPhone also removes its database and settings.

One thing to be aware of: after erasing, the app returns to first-time setup, and Restore lives in Settings. If you erased by accident and want to restore a backup, work through the setup screens first and then go to Settings → Your data.

Which currencies and devices are supported?

Pounds, dollars or euros, chosen during setup and changeable at any time in Settings.

MyMoooolah is an iPhone app, in portrait, and requires iOS 26.5 or later. There is no iPad or Mac version yet. It supports Dynamic Type, so it follows whatever text size you have set on your iPhone, including the accessibility sizes.

What does it cost?

Nothing. It is free, with no in-app purchases, no subscription and nothing held back behind a paywall.

What happens to my data?

It stays on your device. The app makes no network requests, has no account or cloud sync, and contains no analytics, advertising or third-party code. The full detail is in the privacy policy.
